Dear lawmaker, Under current Texas law, local governments can hire professional contract lobbyists to influence the Texas Legislature and other governmental jurisdictions. More often than not, these high-priced lobbyists push for higher taxes, more spending, and greater regulatory authority. It’s wrong to ask taxpayers to continue to fund these lobbying activities, especially when it goes against their interests and it needs to stop. 87% of Texans support ending the practice where tens of millions of our tax dollars are spent each year on contract lobbyists. By eliminating taxpayer funded lobbying, you can level the playing field for everyday Texans who take time off work and away from their families to come to Austin to advocate for their convictions. I encourage you to support the elimination of tax dollars used to fund lobbying!
