Dear lawmaker, Our education system today no longer effectively teaches the moral and political principles upon which our country was founded and under which we continue to be governed as a people. Too many Texans today seem willing to give up their rights or willing to prevent others from exercising theirs. Our nation was founded upon free speech and debate, though some seek to suppress that right for those with whom they disagree. That is why it is critical that we restore sound civic education and encourage Texans to engage in civil discourse with those with whom they disagree. I encourage you to support reestablishing sound civics instruction in k-12 and higher education that draws upon the moral and political principles found in our great nation’s founding. Sincerely,
