TPPF’s Derek Cohen to testify before  U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce

The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Effective Justice Deputy Director Derek Cohen will testify before the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. EDT in room HVC 210 in the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Cohen will testify at a hearing on “Reviewing the Juvenile Justice System and How It Serves At-Risk Youth.”

TPPF statement on San Antonio’s aggressive annexation efforts

Earlier today, the San Antonio Planning Commission formally approved a proposal to conduct limited purpose annexation of some 13,000 Bexar County residents without their consent. This is a major step in the City’s overarching annexation plans, which will ultimately force as many as 200,000 Texans to become city taxpayers by the end of 2016. The proposal will now be considered by the San Antonio City Council.

TPPF releases the Texas Medicaid reform model

The Texas Public Policy Foundation today released a paper by Center for Health Care Policy Director John Davidson and Center for Fiscal Policy Economist Dr. Vance Ginn outlining a model to reform Medicaid. The paper, The Texas Medicaid Reform Model: A Market-Driven, Patient-Centered Approach, presents a framework to address Medicaid’s structural problems while obtaining greater flexibility from the federal government.
