TPPF experts to moderate local government conference in Dallas

The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s James Quintero, director of the Center for Local Governance, and Allegra Hill, policy analyst in the Center for Local Governance, will moderate a DFW Local Officials Symposium, leading discussions on economic development and fiscal policy. The Symposium, hosted by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Direct Action Texas, and the R Street Institute will take place on Friday, February 5, 2016 in Dallas, Texas.

TPPF’s Douglas Domenech testifies in support of Interstate Power Compact

The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Douglas Domenech, Director of TPPF’s Fueling Freedom Project, today testified before the Missouri House of Representatives Energy and the Environment Committee in support of HB1470, which would create an "Interstate Power Compact" and specifies that no agency, political subdivision, or official of any Member State will submit any filing in partial or complete fulfillment of the state plan requirements under section 111(d) of the EPA’s Clean Air Act, also known as the Clean Power Plan unless: (1) the filing involves emission limits of what is technically achievable inside the physical boundaries of the electrical generating units, and (2) until such time as the U.S. Supreme Court has rendered an opinion that the Clean Power Plan is legally valid.

TPPF’s James Quintero to testify on property tax reform

The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Local Governance Director James Quintero will testify before the Texas Senate Select Committee on Property Tax Reform and Relief on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. (CST) at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Mr. Quintero will focus his remarks on recommending ways to promote transparency and accountability by all taxing entities and examining ways to further reduce the tax burden on property owners.

TPPF statement on appeals court decision to deny Clean Power Plan stay

TPPF submits comment on proposed federal plan to implement Clean Power Plan

The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) filed a comment with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on its proposed Federal Plan to implement emission guidelines for power plants under section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act, known as the Clean Power Plan (CPP), which was finalized August 3, 2015 and applies to affected power plants that began construction on or before January 8, 2014. The Federal Plan would be imposed on states who fail to file an approvable state plan.
