TPPF Welcomes Announcement of Increased Troops To Be Deployed At Texas Border

AUSTIN— Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation released the following statement regarding the announcement by Governor Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and Speaker Dennis Bonnen that one thousand additional National Guard troops would be deployed to secure the Texas border.

“We welcome the news that our state officials are as concerned as the people of Texas are about the growing security concern at the border,” said TPPF Executive Director Kevin Roberts. “The additional troops and resources are welcome and will help alleviate the unsustainable pressure on law enforcement who are currently there. Congress should follow the lead of the Governor, Lt. Governor, and Speaker and immediately approve emergency resources needed to address the public safety crisis at the border.”
