AUSTIN- James Golsan, Analyst for the Center for Education Policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, will testify on behalf of House Bill 2976 before the House Public Education Committee on Tuesday, April 30th  2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Room E2.036 of the Texas State Capitol. The bill would enact parent-trigger lawsthat allow parents of students to act in two years instead of six to repurpose school administration if it is failing to meet education standards.

“Though Texas currently has a parent-trigger law, itseffectiveness is limited by the up to six years parents have to wait to pull the trigger,” said Golsan, “HB 2976, by shortening that period of time to two years, significantly strengthens the law, making it a viable tool for parents seeking to positively affect their children’s education.”
