Right on Crime’s Senior Policy Analyst Derek Cohen will join Senator John Cornyn for a round-table discussion about criminal justice reform TODAY, Monday, April 6, at 1:30 p.m. CDT at ROD Ministries in Dallas.

With the federal prison population expanding rapidly and recidivism rates continuing to be a significant problem, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), along with Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), introduced in the Corrections Oversight, Recidivism Reduction, and Eliminating Costs for Taxpayers in Our National System (CORRECTIONS) Act last month.

“It’s encouraging to see criminal justice reform play such a prominent role in conservative policy discussion,” Cohen said. “The provisions of the Corrections Act draw heavily upon the proven, commonsense solutions that we have advocated for here in Texas; those that have helped the state increase public safety, control costs, and reintegrate ex-offenders back into the productive economy.”
