Regarding false accusations about “rushing” SB 8 through the House Public Education Committee, the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s CEO Greg Sindelar released the following statement:

“Suggestions that the House Public Education Committee was planning to hastily vote out a bill that didn’t have a hearing or public testimony are false. Every concept of the draft committee substitute has been the subject of a hearing and considerable public testimony. And it is common practice for committees to adopt substitutes upon suspension, as a matter of pending business. These attacks on Chairman Buckley are unfair and inaccurate.”
