AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Center for Economic Freedom today released a paper by Vice President of Research and Center for Economic Freedom Director Bill Peacock on reforming Texas’ state-run windstorm insurance program. The paper, Fixing Texas’ Windstorm Insurance Systemlays out recommendations to achieve a sound insurance climate on the Texas’ coast.

“Given the status of Texas’ state-run windstorm insurance, Texas consumers and taxpayers are ultimately at risk if a major storm strikes the Texas coast,” said Peacock. “However, the situation is getting better and could be greatly improved with a few changes allowing windstorm rates to be based on risk.”
