“Ending Title 42 will be an unmitigated disaster for the country when coupled with an administration that is otherwise ignoring the immigration laws on the books, undermining the Migrant Protection Protocols with Mexico, and facilitating fake asylum claims,” says Ken Oliver, senior director of the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Right on Immigration campaign.
“From day one, the Biden administration has been, on a massive scale, simultaneously undermining immigration enforcement and using parole and asylum as a backdoor means of legalizing illegal aliens,” Oliver said. “Title 42 was the sole remaining finger in the dike, holding back the flood. And now they are going to pull that finger out,” he explained.
Oliver went on to indicate that “By combining the end of Title 42 with the implementation of new catch-and-release processing systems and lax asylum rules that will enable millions of people from around the world to quickly gain entry into the U.S. and get on the fast track to legal asylee status and citizenship just a few years later, the Biden administration has created the perfect storm on America’s southern border” Oliver continued.
If left unimpeded by the courts and concerted state action, Oliver said, “The end of Title 42 combined with current Biden administration policies is projected to lead to half a million migrants crossing over the U.S. southern border within a matter of weeks—and in short order to threaten the territorial integrity and sustainability of the nation as we know it.”
