Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation announced former Texas Congresswoman Mayra Flores would be joining the foundation as the Juan Seguin Society Chair. In 2022, Flores became the first Mexican-born woman elected to Congress and represented the 34th District in the Rio Grande Valley. During her time in Congress, she was an outspoken advocate for border security, gun rights, the right to life, and strong conservative values. For the foundation, Flores will focus on state and national issues, such as protecting border communities, empowering parents with more education options, and promoting economic freedom. In her position, Flores will empower Hispanics to advance the principles and values of a free Texas through legislative action.

“We are thrilled to have a dedicated fighter for conservative values like Mayra Flores on our team,” said TPPF CEO Greg Sindelar. “At a time when Texas is facing critical challenges brought on by the Biden Administration, as well as tremendous opportunities in the upcoming legislative session, Mayra’s knowledge, experience, and character will serve the foundation and Texas well in the fight to secure the border, ensure parents are in charge of their child’s education, and protect taxpayers with historic property tax reform. We are excited to have her make an impact in the future of Texas this year.”
