TPPF announces special reprint of “EPA Clean Power Plan will hurt the poor and middle class the most”

The Texas Public Policy Foundation today announced a special reprint of The EPA’s Clean Power Plan Will Hurt the Poor and Middle Class the Most. The paper, authored by Fueling Freedom Project Director Doug Domenech and originally published in March 2016 in the Capital Research Center’s Green Watch, compiles data from various studies in order to show the devastating impact of the EPA’s rule on both the cost of energy and on jobs.

TPPF Applauds State Leaders’ Requests of State Agencies

On Friday, Talmadge Heflin, Director of the Center for Fiscal Policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, made the following statement regarding the letter issued to state agencies by Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and House Speaker Joe Straus. The letter provides instructions for state agencies to prepare their legislative appropriations requests for the 2018-19 budget and require “each agency to trim four percent from their base appropriation levels” and provide budget information by program that will help with conducting zero-based budgeting throughout the legislative process.

TPPF releases paper on academic benefits of education freedom

District court order allows TPPF Red River lawsuit against Bureau of Land Management to proceed

The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) issued the following statement from the Honorable Robert Henneke, general counsel and director of TPPF’s Center for the American Future, on the federal district court’s order denying the majority of federal government’s dismissal motion against Aderholt, et al. v. Bureau of Land Management, et. al. The court upheld six of the eight causes of action, allowing the case to be litigated on the merits. TPPF’s Center for the American Future is representing individual property owners, the counties of Wichita, Clay, and Wilbarger, and the Clay County Sheriff in the lawsuit challenging the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) unconstitutional and arbitrary seizure of thousands of acres of private property along the Red River in Texas.

Coalition releases the conservative Texas budget

The Texas Public Policy Foundation along with the 12 additional member organizations of the Conservative Texas Budget Coalition today released The Conservative Texas Budget. The report’s authors, Talmadge Heflin, Director of the Center for Fiscal Policy at TPPF, and Economist Dr. Vance Ginn use a calculated state spending growth limit based on population growth plus inflation of 4.5 percent over the previous two fiscal years (FY 2015 & 2016) to set spending limits of $147.5 billion in state funds and $218.5 billion in all funds.
