Chuck DeVore, vice president for policy at the Texas Public Policy Foundation joined Chad to talk about current events in the Texas state Capitol.
DeVore & Hasty discussed the Texas Senate releasing the first draft of their budget for 2016-2017, as well as other fiscal matters before the state legislature.
DeVore also talked about Governor Greg Abbott’s plan to end the Emerging Technology Fund to allow more funds to go to higher-education purposes.
"We have never been fans of the Emerging Technology Fund, because, frankly if a good idea can’t get funding from angel investors, from venture capital banks, then why is government putting taxpayer money into something if the private sector doesn’t think can be a winner?"
