The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) is seeking a seasoned and strategic Policy Director to lead our Center for Health and Families with a primary focus on healthcare policy.

The Role:

Description:

The Policy Director for the Center for Health and Families will spearhead initiatives to reform Texas’ healthcare system, improve patient access, and protect medical freedom. This role demands a leader with extensive knowledge of healthcare policy, a proven track record in legislative advocacy, and the ability to drive impactful reforms that align with TPPF’s mission of promoting liberty, personal responsibility, and free enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive healthcare policy agenda for the Center, focusing on key issues such as healthcare affordability, transparency, patient rights, and reducing regulatory barriers. Align these initiatives with TPPF’s overarching goals and principles.
  • Policy Development and Advocacy: Lead the formulation of innovative policy solutions aimed at making healthcare more accessible and affordable in Texas. Advocate for policies that strengthen the patient-provider relationship, enhance healthcare price transparency, and reduce the influence of intermediaries in the healthcare system.
  • Legislative Engagement: Serve as the primary advocate for the Center’s healthcare policy initiatives during the Texas legislative session. Build relationships with state legislators, testify before committees, and work closely with stakeholders to advance healthcare reforms that improve outcomes for Texans.
  • Research and Analysis: Oversee the production of high-quality research reports, policy briefs, and white papers that inform and support the Center’s advocacy efforts. Ensure that all research is academically sound, and relevant.
  • Team Management and Mentorship: Lead a team of policy analysts and researchers, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and entrepreneurial work environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
  • Public Engagement: Serve as a spokesperson for the Center on Health and Families, representing TPPF in the media, at conferences, and in public forums. Communicate complex policy issues clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including policymakers, the media, and the public.
  • Partnership Building: Cultivate partnerships with like-minded organizations, academic institutions, and community groups to advance the Center’s mission. Collaborate with other TPPF capabilities to support the Foundation’s broader goals.

Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to TPPF’s principles of liberty, personal responsibility, and free enterprise.
  • 5-7 years of experience in healthcare policy, with a proven track record in policy advocacy, research, and legislative engagement is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and driving complex policy initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of Texas legislative processes and a track record of successful policy advocacy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in public speaking and media engagement.
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with policymakers, stakeholders, and partners.
  • A master’s degree in public policy, law, social work, or a related field is preferred but not required.
