The Role:

Description:

The Policy Analyst for the Taxpayer Protection Project will specifically focus on private property rights, a fundamental aspect of our mission to promote and defend liberty, personal responsibility, and free enterprise. This position will conduct in-depth research, develop policy recommendations, and advocate for reforms that fortify private property rights against government encroachment.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct rigorous and original research on issues related to private property rights, including eminent domain reform, permitting processes, and contractual enforcement. Analyze legislative and regulatory proposals at the state and federal levels to assess their impact on property rights.
  • Policy Development: Develop comprehensive policy recommendations that align with TPPF’s foundational principles, emphasizing the protection and enhancement of private property rights. Propose innovative solutions to current challenges facing property owners in Texas and beyond.
  • Advocacy and Outreach: Engage with policymakers, stakeholders, and the public to advocate for policy reforms that protect private property rights. This includes drafting op-eds, policy briefs, and research reports, as well as presenting findings and recommendations in public forums, legislative hearings, and media appearances.
  • Vision Support: Bolster efforts to advance TPPF’s legislative action plan related to private property rights, focusing on areas such as eminent domain reform, streamlining permitting processes, and enhancing procedural fairness in property disputes. Collaborate with other TPPF teams to ensure cohesive and strategic policy advocacy.
  • Mentorship and Collaboration: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior scholars and interns, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team. Collaborate with other TPPF capabilities to support the broader goals of the Foundation.

Qualifications:

  • A deep commitment to the principles of liberty, personal responsibility, and free enterprise.
  • 3 or more years of experience in public policy research, ideally with a focus on property rights, land use, or related areas.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research and develop well-supported policy recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in public speaking and media engagement.
  • A track record of successfully advocating for policy changes at the state or federal level.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong quantitative-analysis skillset, including experience with statistical software packages like SPSS, Stata, R, and the like
  • A master’s degree in public policy, law, economics, or a related field is preferred but not required.
